Hi, I’m Bobbie.

What began as a love for Mah Jongg quickly became a passion for bringing people together. Over the years, I've seen firsthand how the game creates friendships, sparks conversation, and connects people across generations. For me, Mah Jongg is more than a game—it's a way to build community.

Today, I teach American Mah Jongg throughout Westchester and Fairfield County through private lessons, workshops, and guided play. Whether you're learning for the first time or looking to build confidence at the table, my goal is to create a welcoming environment where every player can learn, grow, and enjoy the game.

Why I Teach

What I love most about Mah Jongg isn't just the game—it's the people.

What I love most about Mah Jongg isn't just the game—it's the people.

I've watched complete strangers become friends through shared stories, laughter, and a few friendly debates over the tiles. Mah Jongg has a unique ability to bring people together, creating connections that extend far beyond the table.

My Mah Jongg Story

After nine wonderful years in California's East Bay Area, I moved back to the tri-state area. As my son prepared to start middle school, I realized something else: playdates were over. So how was I going to make friends?

I tried a bridge class, but by the end I was mostly pretending to know what was going on. Then I spotted a Mah Jongg class—and everything changed.

Being a devoted Facebook sleuth, I quickly found local players and joined a regular game. Before long, I was teaching others to play. One friend invited another, then another, and before I knew it, Mah Jongg Mama was born.

Today, I still love receiving texts that say, "You taught my friend, and now we want to learn, too!"
